MINERAL DEL MONTE

Parroquia de la Asunción (The Asunción Parish)

The Parroquia de la Asuncion is located in front of the main plaza. Construction began in 1563 and features a neo-classic-style altar.

La Capilla de Veracruz (Veracruz Chapel)

This was the second temple built in Real del Monte by the Franciscan friars from Pachuca. Two beautiful, golden altarpieces built during the second half of the 18th century can be found inside.

La Capilla del Señor de Zelontla (Senor de Zelontla Chapel)

Señor de Zelontla is the patron saint of miners. The oak sculpture, created during the 17th century, is a representation of Christ, the Good Sheppard.

Ex Hospital Minero (Ex-Mining Hospital)

This hospital was built in 1907. When visiting the hospital, you can still see surgical instruments from that era.

Panteón Inglés (English Cemetery)

The magic, mystery and originality of the English Cemetery make this a strange but interesting attraction. Ask the guide to see the grave of Richard Bell, the first clown in Mexico.

Peñas Cargadas

HUASCA DE OCAMPO

Ex Hacienda de San Miguel Regla (The Old San Miguel Regla Hacienda)

This hacienda was built in the 18th century. The architecture has clear Spanish characteristics with very heavy walls and all the comforts available during that time, including gardens and a lake.

Ex Hacienda de Santa María Regla (The Old Santa Maria Regla Hacienda)

This hacienda, built during the 18th century, is surrounded by a spectacular landscape. It was home to the Conde de Regla (the Count).

Ex Hacienda de San Juan Hueyapan (The Old San Juan Hueyapan Hacienda)

This place is considered the “mother of all haciendas”. It was constructed in 1535 by a nephew of Hernán Cortés.

Iglesia de San Juan Bautista (San Juan Bautista Church)

This church was constructed in 1870. The architecture is very simple, without ornamentation and is currently home to the House of Culture.

Peñas del Aire (Air Rocks)

Near San Miguel Regla, you’ll find an enormous basalt rock, that at first glance, appears to be suspended in the air.

Prismas Basálticos (Basaltic Prisms)

These gigantic columns, discovered by Baron Humbolt in 1803, decorate the walls of an impressive ravine.

Parroquia de La Purísima Concepción (Parish of the Purest Conception)

This neo-classical style structure was built in 1725. The stone front of the parish is highlighted by tall, Tuscan columns, frieze ornamentation and a curved gable.

Parque Nacional El Chico (El Chico National Park)

This national park is a major tourist attraction with camp sites, cabins, and areas for mountain climbing, hiking and fishing.

Peña del Cuervo

This is one of the most popular spots in the park. It has a beautiful panoramic view that includes Mineral del Chico.

OMITLÁN DE JUÁREZ

Nuestra Señora del Refugio (Our Lady of Refuge)

Built in 1850, this building is characterized by its renaissance style. It is located in the center of the town, in Plaza Juárez.

Cascada Bandola (Bandola Waterfall)

Seven kilometers from the capital of the municipality, you will find the beautiful waterfall that originates in the springs of the mountainous area of Mineral del Chico.

Peña del Zumate

This rock formation overlooks the forest. It is ideal for rock climbing and motorcross.
